What an incredible day! Our last day at the primary school where we were able to visit all classes and observe the lessons and meet with the children. Kimberly and I taught a lesson together on colours, in english and te reo..the children loved it!!! They especially loved the 'fly swat' game. After school we were able to join a class on traditional flower arranging where we were served traditional green tea and taught the correct way to drink the tea. We hadto pick the cup up with our right hand, place it in our left palm, turn the cup twice, have no more than 3 and a half mouthfuls and must drink the rest down.
We then all returned home and my host family took me to a sushi bar for dinner where the individual plates of sushi move along infront of you and you haveto pick what you want to eat..cost me $4 for my sushi dinner :).on our way home we stopped to get icecream and pocky (japanese chocolate on a stick! !!)
Welcome to my blog. On the 13th of September 2013 I will be embarking on a once in a lifetime journey to Osaka, Japan as part of the BTchLN Primary teaching degree with the University of Canterbury. This blog will act as my journal of wonderings, relevant literature, inspiring moments and interesting information that I have discovered on my journey.
